Me in a nutshell- My Art
: I originally started a DA account to showcase my bladesmithing work, but it has since expanded to include literary and game art works as well. I don’t consider myself much of an artist, per se, mainly because I couldn’t draw people to save my life
. I am the author of the Dark Nova novels, an ongoing series set in the 24th
century, and the writer for Dark Nova Games.Me
: I'm 39, a Sinsearaí
, and probably one of the more eccentric people I know due to the odd mix of careers, hobbies, and interests. I am what is colloquially called a "closet geek", with an inner geek installed next to my emotionally scarred Valium-popping inner child
. I'm married to a lovely young woman,
, and together we have two daughters capable of more property damage than the Yellowstone Caldera if it exploded. I live in Texas, but grew up in Southeast Alaska. Making it weirder, my family is originally from Cill Airne, Ireland. Day Job
: I am semi-retired, but when not-so-semi I work for various PMCs as a Force Protection/PSD medic. Despite how high-speed it may sound, it basically means I am a glorified, seriously overpaid (not complaining) babysitter who patches up the boo-boos of other operators. Meh, a job's a job. I am focusing on my side-jobs as an author and writer/developer for Dark Nova Games
in the hopes that I can make it my primary career. My kids need a daddy more than a heroic memory, and I'm pushing 40, so its time to move out of the field and settle down to be a father.Hobbies
: gaming (MMOs and FPS video games and some P & P, mostly AD&D [1st and 2nd ed.], Shadowrun, and a few of our own we cooked up), renaissance festivals, blacksmithing (the reason for this gallery initially), writing sci-fi (novels and an RPG based on them, also the feature of this gallery) and modern Dresden-ish occult novels, building model castles and the like (my secret geeky obsession), and so on. I also do geopolitical analysis and such, but that's related to work, not fun, so it doesn't count as a hobby I guess.
Anything else you wish to know will require generous libations of cheesecake and eggnog as the sugar rush I had when starting this is wearing off...
